Improved Parcel Inspections
CAL FIRE guidelines must be followed by all owners of improved properties in Blue Lake Springs. There are separate lot clearing requirements for Defensible Space and for Reduced Fuel Zone.
Defensible Space: 0 – 30 feet from any structure
Reduced Fuel Zone: 30 – 100 feet from any structure

Volunteers will make their first inspections at the end of May. They will use the FIRE SAFETY INSPECTION LEGAL NOTICE to note violations. A copy of this notice will be mailed to all homeowners where violations occur. The homeowner will have 30 days to remedy the violations, at which time a second inspection will be made by the volunteers. Properties that are still in violation will be noted and referred to CAL FIRE to determine if they should pursue a legal citation.
